Snowmobiling in New Hampshire

Winters in the Great North Woods make the perfect winter wonderland for those that love winter sports. One of our favorites is snowmobiling. With thousands of miles of groomed snowmobiling trails through the breathtaking wilderness, you’re bound to have endless hours of winter fun. Our community’s local clubs work throughout the season to ensure that these trails are perfectly groomed to ensure an enjoyable ride. Our network of snowmobile trails also connects to trails located throughout Maine, Vermont, and Canada allowing the opportunity to snowmobile for days without having to ride the same trail repeatedly. Snowmobiling is certainly one of the most popular winter activities in New Hampshire’s North Country.

If you don’t own a snowmobile of your own, we have plenty of local rental businesses that will supply you with all of the necessary equipment. Bear Rock Adventures, located in Pittsburg, offers guided and unguided snowmobile tours which include the rental of snowmobiles and the required gear. Choose a guided tour to be shown around the Great North Woods in style, or to check out views only the locals know how to find. If you’re more of an explorer type, choose an unguided tour to check out all of the best trails. If you’re looking for an all-in-one experience, Lopstick has it for you. These beautiful cabins located on First Connecticut Lake, Perry Stream, Back Lake, and the Connecticut River provide breathtaking views and thrilling adventures! Snowmobile by day, relax in a charming log cabin by night, it’s truly the best of both worlds. MOMS North Country Powersports, in Groveton, has the largest selection of Polaris off-road vehicles in the North Country area. They can outfit any rider for a day or a month, and everything in between. With hundreds of miles of trails with breathtaking views of the North Country, you won’t find a better experience anywhere else.

Snowshoeing in New Hampshire

Who says hiking is just a summer activity? The Great North Woods is home to several scenic hiking trails that can be hiked all summer and winter long! Our miles of trails lead through remote wilderness and up to scenic mountain peaks which offer a truly rewarding experience without having to fight the crowds of populated hiking trails. A local favorite is Dixville Notch State Park with its many year-round accessible trails that are beautiful to snowshoe in during those chilly winter months. Mount Sanguinary offers particularly beautiful views that overlook Lake Gloriette. Other popular trails include Table Rock and The Three Brothers Trails which are considered easier hikes for beginning snowshoers. Pro tip: wildlife is abundant throughout these hiking trails, don’t be surprised if you spot a moose or deer roaming in the nearby woods!
