If you enjoy the feeling of hopping on two wheels and going wherever your two feet can pedal you, then you’ll want to read on.
With its spectacular mountain views, glistening lakes, and tranquil ponds, the roads and dirt covered trails through the Great North Woods are amazing to ride. For cycling and mountain biking enthusiasts, there’s simply nothing like a biking adventure through Vermont and New Hampshire’s beautiful North Country.
Some like a slow ride on a leisure bike.
Others go for the workout of a speedy ride on a sleek 10-speed.
Then there are the adventure seekers who love the thrill of a ride up and down the tree-lined trails of the mountains on their mountain bike.
No matter which is your speed, the North Country has something for you!
IN NEW HAMPSHIRE…
The sale of International Paper Corporation’s Pittsburg holdings has created a unique situation for mountain biking in our northernmost town. In order to preserve northern New Hampshire’s natural beauty as well as retain access for the sporting public, a conservation easement was created involving the state of New Hampshire and a private timber corporation. The easement was created to ensure recreational opportunities for future generations and to maintain an active forest economy.
As a result, Pittsburg, NH has many beautiful trail rides waiting for you, your mountain bike, and your adventurous spirit. Visit our cycling and biking page to check ‘em out.
IN VERMONT…
Burke Mountain’s ‘Kingdom Trails‘ has become the go-to-destination for mountain biking enthusiasts in the northeast. There, you’ll find a 100+ mile network of quality, non-motorized, multi-use trails for all levels of ability, along with gorgeous local scenery and natural diversity.
BEYOND…
The best part of visiting and exploring Northeast Vermont and its neighboring North Country of NH, is that once you’ve seen it all, there’s still more to see!
Quebec, Canada is just a hop, skip and a jump away! Stay here in NH or VT and pay a visit to ‘Circuit de Frontier‘ on Hereford Mountain in Quebec, one of the first mountain biking centers in Quebec. It’s part of natural conservancy land situated in a very scenic, quiet and remote part of Québec just at the border of Québec, New Hampshire and Vermont. We’re talking just a ten minute (5 miles) ride from the Beecher Falls US / Canada port-of-entry!
Some avid mountain bikers tell us Circuit de Frontier is the “Kingdom Trails of Quebec,” only a little less groomed. So, if you’re looking to spice things up a bit, you may find Hereford Mountain adds some excitement with trails that are more technical.
