Experience the Holidays in the North Country

With its beautiful, snow-covered mountains and forests, fun winter activities and plenty of special seasonal events, there’s no better place to enjoy the holidays than in the North Country.

December in the North Country is always a winter wonderland thanks to the region’s early snowfall. That allows visitors to enjoy winter activities such as snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing long before most other regions in the Northeast.

The North Country is also a wonderful place to begin a new family tradition of cutting your own Christmas Tree. The area is home to large Christmas Tree Farms, including Weir Tree Farms, which has been family-owned and operated since 1945 and has nearly 400 acres of Christmas trees. The farm harvests an astounding 15,000 to 20,000 trees annually.

The area is bursting with holiday spirit at this time of year, with special events visitors are sure to love. Colebrook hosts the annual Snowflake Festival, where people can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, Santa’s Workshop, a parade and fireworks. The Tillotson Center hosts several fun holiday events during the holiday season.

Visitors can also find special deals on lodging during the holidays. Lopstick offers a holiday vacation package that includes three nights of lodging and a fresh-cut, locally-grown Christmas tree with lights in your cabin. You can use their decorations, too, or bring your own. Lopstick also offers special pricing on snowmobile rentals on December 24th and 25th.

Come enjoy the kind of holiday season you dream about in the North Country.
