Sugaring Off Brunch

Join your neighbors for a Sugaring Off Brunch at the Canaan Community Forest Sugarhouse! At the beginning of spring, sugaring-off gatherings are a traditional way to get all ages together to enjoy boiling down sap into sweet maple syrup, and welcome in the change of the seasons. Students from the Canaan Schools FFA and Integrated Trades class will be present to demonstrate and share with attendees what is involved with the process. If there is sap to boil at the time, they will be boiling!
Complimentary pancakes, breakfast meat, fruit, coffee and of course pure maple syrup will be available to share. Follow signs with balloons to the sugarhouse and classroom, up Green Hill Road. Parking will be at the right by the equipment lean-to. Guests can walk up to the sugarhouse and classroom to gather. Forest trails are available to explore as well. Boots are recommended, as it will likely be muddy.
This event is being organized by the Canaan Community Forest committee and The Community Builders Hub. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to terrie.herr@gmail.com, so plans can be made for food. Outdoor bench seating is available, or guests can bring camp chairs to hang out. Let’s welcome in spring together!
